I had two of these stories in individual books which were both very popular with my 3 year old daughter. So I went online to find more by Usborne and saw this collection of stories in one. My daughter loves them all. They are a perfect length for a night time story. She also loves using the ribbon book mark to open the book! I plan on buying the equivalent 'Stories for Boys' for her next birthday.

A lovely collection of fairy tales about the right level for a newly confident reader. Each story is illustrated by a different artists, some cartoony, some in classic Usborne style and some in pretty watercolours. Excellent value for money, will keep any little girl happy reading or being read to.

I bought this book for my 4 year old daughter. The selection of stories is very good - from well known stories (Princess and the Pea) to other stories (Fairy in a Flap, The missing Pearl). As an anthology of stories for little girls it is excellent. The illustrations are beautiful and are by a selection of artists. My favourites (and found in many other Usborne books) is the illustrator Stephen Cartwright. My daughter loves the stories and there are enough illustrations to keep her interested as I read to her. It also makes a nice gift to give to others.

My daughter hitherto had no interest in story books or reading but did not want to put this book down. She finished this book in no time. I very much recommend it. A+

The stories are retold sometimes in a slightly different way from the classics. Yet my girl seems to like it, they are funny, light in mood and well illustrated.

It angers and sickens me that books like this exist. Why is it pink? Why does this only contain stories about Princesses, mermaids and dolls? Where are the adventures? Why do I want my daughter growing up to believe that this is what she has to grow into or not be a proper girl? Why can't my son read this book?

It is a really, really sad time in our history when we take a step back. These stories aren't just for girls, nor are they all girls should be reading.

Please do not buy any child stories that categorise their gender. The stories we tell our children make a huge difference to the development of self image - please give our daughters VARIED pictures of what it means to be a girl.

Very much enjoyed this book as a night-time read for little ones. Well written and illustrated - and perfect length for a pre-sleep read.
