5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulously inspiring book
Fabulously inspiring book. My daughter was statemented with a severe and complex intellectual disability and dreams of finding work other than the volunteer work she currently does. Fabulously inspiring book. My daughter was statemented with a severe and complex intellectual disability and dreams of finding work other than the volunteer work she currently does. We have come across many barriers even with finding volunteer work. My daughter doesn't have a problem, the problem often lies with the stereotyping by employers/others. Randy Lewis shows how attitudes can be changed in a positive way the outcome being the inclusion of disabled people 'equally' in the workforce. Randy Lewis shows this can be a win win situation. Just wish we had a 'Champion' like Randy Lewis in the UK. I read this book in half a day and highly recommend it.

This is a great book. It tells the story of how a father applied the lessons he learnt from his autistic son, Austin, to encouraging genuine inclusion in the workplace. Working for Walgreen's, he set himself the task of ensuring that 200 of the 600 people employed for a new distribution centre would be disabled people. He talks honestly about the journey - the challenges, obstacles and triumphs. A thoroughly recommended read.

Everyone should read this book! All the government ministers responsible for employment, all big businessmen, and special needs teachers like me. If companies and policies about implementing change and really truly stopping discrimination there is nothing teachers can do to get our disabled young adults into jobs. Amazing man, amazing idea, amazing results, amazing book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, 22 Nov. 2014

The most inspirational book I have read in a very long time. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry and it will definitely make you want to become a better person. It should be required reading for all people in management. Though this was written primarily about helping people with disabilities there are many lessons there for people in all walks of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely inspirational., 12 Sept. 2014

Absolutely inspirational. I was blown away by how Randy tackled our everyday perception of what can and cannot be done. How employers and employees (and shareholders!) have changed in the face of his calm determination and dream of making the workplace truly equal opportunity. I heard about it on the radio, bought the book on Kindle and hope I never look back!
