Insightful....but vague at times also....still a good read....a lot of the jargon lost me at times, but was fine once I saw the glossary.

This book is a must read for fans of Basketball especially the period when the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan where top of the tree. This book gives a great insight into the great coach and his unique approach to coaching a team of highly paid and on the whole talented individuals, who to the point that Phil Jackson took over, had under achieved.
It goes from Phil Jackson's relgious upbringing to his time as a player and then as a coach and how all of these elements made him the best coach of his period in the NBA with a team that broke record after record. But I think the biggest insight is the relationship that he developed with Michael Jordan, and the development of the Chicago Bulls triangle offence.
Under this somewhat unique coaching methodology they became without dout the best basketball team in the history of the game and etsablished Michael Jordan as the best player of this game ever with a fantastic supporting cast including Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Toni Kukoc and Ron Harper.
This book will not be to everyones liking but as a fan of this era in American sport it is a must read and to get the complete picture then you should try Dennis Rodman's "Bad as I wanna be" and Daivd Halberstrom's "Michael Jordan and the World he created". Each book gives a different view point on the same story that ended with Jackson leaving the Bulls and Michael Jordan retiring and the break up of this once great and proud sporting franchise.
