5.0 out of 5 stars A story that has everything., 22 Oct. 2007

This review is from: Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone: The Carter Family and Their Legacy in American Music (Paperback)
This is an interesting and well written book that charts the lives of the original Carter Family and their children.
Unlike some music biographies which read like a list of dates, names and events, this manages to be a compelling read. The story is entertaining, and brought to life with great background details; from what it was like living in the Appalachain mountains in the 1920's to the story of the Texas border radio stations.
Thoroughly recommended for anyone interested in american music, and probably a good read for anyone who isn't.

Anyone iterested in the music of the Carter Family will be fascinated by this book. It also provides insights into a whole era and way of life that is now long gone. Very well written. Shame it doesn't include a discography, but there are on-line resources that are available.

For anyone interested in the roots of country and rock and roll - this is where it started with the Carter family and is a "must read". Illustrated with a few archive pics, this is more than plain biographical account - it is a sensitive, intelligent, insightful story of the great AP, Sara and Maybelle Carter ( and their offspring).
