5.0 out of 5 stars Get your groove on
I bought this book because I want to develop my dynamics and learn to play some busy grooves. The central premise of Future Sounds is developing the facility to play two dynamic levels - soft and loud. The book goes from basic paradiddle based grooves to more complicated patterns, including linear grooves. The book deals with grooves between hats, snare and kick.

1.0 out of 5 stars CD not included!
The book constantly refers to the CD that it supposedly comes with. It tells you to play certain tracks on said CD to listen to the various drum exercises and grooves etc. This would be fine...IF IT WAS INCLUDED! But it's not. Therefore I'm left incredibly annoyed with this purchase because you can't buy the CD separately either.

It looks like fun and will undoubtedly develop one's dynamics, coordination and pocket.
The included CD is very well produced if cheesy sounding (as cheesy as Dave's mullet).
I would recommend this to anyone wanting to add funk and spice to their drumming.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who doesn't want to add some nice textures to their playing?, 3 Jan 2013
Another drummer whose teaching is at the same standard as his playing (very high). This is a great book for anyone wanting to dive into David Garibaldi's brand of funk or expand their pocket playing (that should be every drummer) The book has plenty to keep you busy for a long time. Even if an idea is easy (and plenty are hard) getting it down with the correct dynamics and to the standard of David is another thing. This is a book I keep going back to for my own playing and my students love learning from it as well.
