5.0 out of 5 stars Modern day equivalent of MLJ "Preachers and Preaching"., 17 April 2014

A must read for every Christian. But if The Lord has given you a place of proclamation of the Word of God this is a must, must, must read! Full of warm hearted yet hard hitting exhortation to renounce the world and it's ways and seek the glory of God alone both in content and methodology. One for my regular reading list for sure. Will be recommending this to all the young brothers I know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, clear and very relevant, 28 Jan 2014

I have heard it said, with reference to the Bible, "keep the main things the plain things and the plain things the main things".

Steven Lawson expounds on 1 Corinthians chapter 2, using it as a model for teaching across the ages.

The reader is provided with an in depth view of why Paul preached as he did and why this is relevant for today.

Do you hear Christ preached from your pulpit? Or do you, the preacher, preach Christ, from your pulpit?

Paul found it sufficient and exhaustive, to promote Christ and Him crucified. This book, explains very well, why and how this should be done.

Christ is the main thing, keep Him that way.

This is quite simply the truth every gospel preacher needs to hear! As a young preacher I feel I now have the framework to ensure my entire preaching ministry will keep the main thing, the main thing. What an excellent resource!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant teaching, 1 Jan 2014

This should be read by every pastor/Teacher. I cannot more highly recommend this book. Preaching generally today is in the doldrums and this book highlights the faults and the deliberate outspoken rebuke required to meet the needs of every believer if they are going to grow and grow and grow. "Grow in grace" God instructs us through the apostle Paul. How can we if we are fed on milk and not meat? This book will greatly help those who preach and those who listen. Only pride and stubbornness with prevent the blessing so humble yourselves preacher and listener and do not be content with water when there is wine to be tasted and delivered. Do not keep the best wine till last when can be delivered early. There is a tremendous thirst out there and there is living water to be poured forth. So get this book and devour and digest and deliver God's living Word.
