The book is a great starting guide on HTML5 and CSS3 and new technology, but as a book on the 70-480 Microsoft exam it's pretty poor.
There are entire chapters in the book that have nothing to do with the exam, including chapters on node.js and WebSQL - cool technologies to learn, but not relevant to 70-480.

This is a great reference guide for the 480 exam. But be warned; not everything you will encounter in the exam is covered here. Most aspects of the exam are definitely touched on, but I found that there was a lot of emphasis on things that were unlikely (and indeed did not) to appear in the test and which were alluded to but not really delved in to which did come up.
This is a well written book with lots of useful information and a worthwhile addition to training towards 480. When used in conjunction with a practice test it will serve well.
