5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Amazing Book
From the first page until the last, I was hooked, and could not put it down while coding along. The book taught me the basics of XNA, and even let me write my own apps and fun games for Windows Phone and the Xbox 360. The book assumes some prior knowledge of C#, but this is easily learn from the godlike author's free "Yellow Book". The other reviewer clearly is blind. ROB...

2.0 out of 5 stars Gets too complicated too early.
This book is for beginners right? So how is it YOU DON'T TEACH THE ABSOLUTE FUNDAMENTALS? It gets too complicated way too early, it's like the author's trying to show to us 'ooooh I know C-Sharp, lemme try and impress you'. Waste of money, don't buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, 31 Aug. 2012

If you're looking to learn XNA and C# then this book is a perfect 5 stars. I recommend it to everyone I know who wants to make a game. It's well written, amusing, thorough, and right from the get go you're making actual, real games.

Many books, you'll end up writing 10 pages of code, told to 'ignore this section for now', and you end up with something that works, but you have no idea why and no satisfaction of learning.
With this book, right from the beginning you'll be making simple but complete humorous games, even if it's something as simple as changing your screen colour, it's presented to you as a game so it's immediately very easy to visualise other things you could do.

The only thing you have to be aware of, is that if you already know C# well, you may find this book a little slow as it covers many aspects of C# that you probably know like the back of your hand while it teaches you about XNA. However it's well structured and you can quickly skip to the parts of the book you need, especially as a reference for later on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Beginners, 25 Jun. 2012
This review is from: Microsoft® XNA® Game Studio 4.0: Learn Programming Now!: How to program for Windows Phone 7, Xbox 360, Zune devices, and more (Paperback)
As a student learning XNA I found this book to be a massive help. It starts from scratch and guides through everything there is to know about starting XNA programming. From installing XNA to making your very own game. The chapters go through each aspect of making a game such as text, images and sound.

Each chapters focus on one aspect of the programming which make it easy to understand and the step by step process is easy to follow. I'd highly recommend this to anyone starting XNA. My only fault with the book is that you may think that it teaches you everything about XNA however its only the basics. That still shouldn't stop any beginners of XNA from getting this book.
