I have read both the SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008 versions of this book to prepare for Microsoft exams and have found both of them useful. The SQL Server 2008 version is as well written as its predecessor and I cannot fault any of the exercises. I liked the joint coverage of native mode and Sharepoint mode and the Quick Reference sections at the end of each chapter. The book is excellent for beginners and revision, but you will want to follow up on some of the provided web links for more detailed information.

Having just completed the Microsoft classroom course 6236A I felt I had just skimmed surface of SSRS. I attended a webinar that Stacia held and felt I had just seen lots more than was in the Microsoft course.
Bought the book and I am learning something new on almost every page it's so easy to understand everything. In terms of comparing it to 6236A this book is in a completely different league to the classroom/tutor led course!! There are many ways to achieve the same objective but this book shows the easy way (especially the easy way to learn).
Thoroughly our recommend this book

Wasn't sure whether to purchase this book due to using SQL Server 2008r2 rather than 2008, but took the risk and it was worth it.
The excercises are helpful, although like another user found, you will need to set the year from 2004 to 2008 when using the sample data.
I used report builder 3 and with some of the excercises being designed for report builder 2 you may have to hunt around for menu's and buttons. Like all Micorsoft products, the functions remain but they may just have been moved to another tab/location.
Overall a very useful book whether you are using 2008 or 2008r2

I found this book for anyone using Visual Studio a great help. easy to seach the e-book version which is included on the CD and so simplify finding the topics you wish to get help on. As a fairly new user of Visual Studio its a great help.
