This book ("Microsoft Office Visio 2007 Inside Out") provides an in-depth coverage of its subject. Elaborate and well-written, there is little to complain about regarding its topic-versatility. It took care of both the Standard and the Professional editions of Visio 2007 software. However, if you are familiar with earlier editions of this book (down to the 2002 version), you will not read long before noticing that there are only superficial differences between this new edition and the older ones. Their respective Tables Of Contents are virtually the same. Still, that is not the book's fault. The truth is that since the 2002 edition of Visio software was released, Microsoft has only doled-out superficial upgrades: with little more than a change in the graphical-user-interface to show for the exorbitant upgrade prices, which it extracted from its customers. But despite this shortcoming, if you must buy a book for your Visio 2007 software, this title is worth considering. Its accompanying CD-ROM contains a number of useful resources for customizing Visio 2007; and also, for integrating it with other Microsoft Office software. For this reason, I would agree that this book has few competitors: in terms of depth, style, and finesse.
