This books has a good potential for the novice in programming as long as they have the basic system software.
mainly windows 2000 server or windows XP and visual basic 6.
Content is clear to understand as long the reader has a good grasp of the way the windows media encoder works.

This review is from: Microsoft® Windows Media® Resource Kit (Pro-Resource Kit) (Paperback)
This is a good book to have if you want to understand the basics of streaming and some of the terms used. It also goes through implementing windows media systems and some of the issues: network setup, load-balancing, usability and how to get feedback.
So, why only two stars? If you are a software developer this is not the book for you. This books provides a very high level view of what is going on; this doesn't cover any topics a developer needs to actually start writing code (no object model reference, no code samples, etc).
