An excellent and comprehensive biography of ABC's naval life, with particular attention to the post for which he is most remebered, CinC Mediterranean Fleet during WW2. The only failing of this book is in the relative lack of information on his staff posts throughout his life. The author has however exposed both ABC's strengths and weaknesses in what has to be a must read book for all students of naval history.

Concise, accurate, interesting, informative, and written in a style that is easy to read. What more can one say?

A very good, detailed biography. I've always admired him and still do, but I was not aware of his weaknesses, such as his lack of full understanding on how to use air power. The Taranto raid was instigated by others.
