There are some great ideas for not only necklaces but some earrings and bracelets. There are good colour photographs of all projects.I liked the description of tools and materials and the lists of stockists of the beads. The book appeared to be aimed at beginners but ocassionally the instructions were not clear or complete. I had to ask experienced beaders to suggest what to do. I would also have liked the author to suggest alternative colourway.

This book completely demystifies necklace making. From the intro to the index page the author’s wonderful writing-teaching style takes the reader from simply stringing beads to creating necklace art. I am SO pleased I bought this to join my growing library of Dorothy Wood beading books - yes, I am a fan and there is a very good reason:
As always Ms Wood lays out her text and fabulous close-up step-by-step instruction photos as close to perfectly as is possible – very logical progression with very little need to ‘refer to’ a different page. I love the pages on using colour creatively, and of course the section on designing necklaces is invaluable especially because Ms Wood does have a knack for making complex concepts accessible to anyone. She breaks it all down in easy to grasp bites from bead and findings to tools to designing and implementing.
The book includes step-by-step instruction for necklaces PLUS brooches, bracelets, and earrings to match or compliment several of the designs PLUS instructions for several essential wiring techniques and a beautiful spiral stitch (for the lariat necklace).
Great book if you really want to create and wear gasp-worthy jewellery!

Get all the basics plus lots of designs for fun and fabulous jewellery. There were quite a lot of these I would like to make. Dorothy shows great design skill using a variety of beads and styles to create very wearable jewellery. Very clear how-to photos and instructions.

Some good ideas but instructions not quite as clear as some other books. Still good for inspiration. Also has a useful section at the end on some general techniques which did include a couple of things not seen in my other books. Has a couple of other things than just necklaces too, a nice bonus. Overall, glad I bought it
