This book is really good. I saw it in a book shop and bought it on Amazon because I knew the price would be reasonable. The book has so many dishes that allow you to experiment. What is most important is that it has dishes for vegetarians (more than the average). It's great:)

This is a very pleasant book to flick through (beautiful photos) and it is also a very good cookbook per se. It is particularly interesting as books about Caribbean cookery published in English obviously focus more on the English speaking islands. Babette ,a Guadaloupan, offers a new insight into food from the West Indies, a lot of similarities with the other islands of course but also a permanent je ne sais quoi which makes the difference worth exploring. I found a lot of the recipes interesting and all of them are clearly explained.
Babette has a restaurant in Paris and is a regular on French TV. To my mind she is one of the few French speaking chefs worth watching as she conveys a real passion for her food and a total lack of the paternalism so often shown by her fellow chefs on French TV.
