This book is amazing. I wanted a resource to help my Year 5 class associate paintings and artwork with poems, and was struggling to find examples.
Grace Nichols has used her experience as poet in residence at the Tate to put together a fantastic resource. Paint Me a Poem combines pictures of either paintings or sculptures diplaed at the tate, with a poem written by Grace, and then often poems written by children who were inspired at workshops to write their own versions.
My class really enjoyed looking at the pictures and listening to the poems, and wrote some great versions for themselves.
I really recommend this book.
