1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money (on your Kindle)
I also have the paper version of this book - which I hasten to say is really excellent (4 stars at least). However, this Kindle version is merely a series of images of the book, so that the text and puzzles are pretty unreadable. Do not waste your money on this

4.0 out of 5 stars Deep understanding of strategy and tactics required!, 29 Jun 2011

This review is from: Imagination in Chess: How to Think Creatively and Avoid Foolish Mistakes (Paperback)
This book should only be aimed at players graded 1800+ ELO. There are some problem exercises in this book that even lesser mortals like me (1600 ELO) can solve but most of them are extremely difficult. It took me over a week to reach problem 50! It should be warned that this book is geared up very much for practice as opposed to being tutorial based. There are hundreds of exercises in here to solve. This book assumes that most players already have a very deep understanding of chess at a high level. Indeed many of the positions feature some wonderful sacrifices, but as with all top level chess there are many variations and sub-variations to work your way through before you can honestly say you know what is going on in any given position! Although the title is misleading I've no doubt that this book will suit any player wishing to study tactics and strategy at a high level, but they must be at the level of "aspiring master" to get any benefit from it!
