4.0 out of 5 stars Sophisticated designs, clear instructions, 11 Jan 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Royal School of Needlework Embroidery Techniques (Hardcover)
This book focuses on 4 techniques...silk shading, blackwork, crewel, and gold work. The sample projects are sophisticated and the instructions are so clear as to make them really doable. One of the things I liked was the use of the same basic iris design for each of the techniques. Being able to compare the look that the different techniques brought to the same design was an added plus. Also, the samples involved landscapes, portraits, and use of a crumpled piece of paper to create a design. A good addition to anyones library and an excellent way to move into these techniques.
