4.0 out of 5 stars For fans
This book is strictly for the fans, and it is a shame that it is hard to find because more and more people are appreciative of the music of Ryan Adams.

If you are a fan, get it.

If you are just curious, don't bother.

Great artist, good book. (The only one of its kind).

3.0 out of 5 stars About time too!
This book on Ryan has to me been a long time in coming. If you loved Whiskeytown, or discovered Ryan after "Gold", this book is a great excuse to get to know Adams a little deeper. It goes into his head, tells us his thoughts, feelings and bad boy, slightly disturbed attitude.

At time I found the book dull, at times I found it an utterly inspiring graphic portayal of Ryan. This is a book for a fan who wants to know the titbits behind the music, rather than a book for someone who doesn't know Ryan Adams from (Brian) Adam(s).
The book at time is very descriptive, he did this then that, etc etc. Almost at times is laboured, as though the author spotted a market gap and decided to plug it. The book is not a classic but lays the bench mark for future books on Adams who I hope is a complex character, rather than a dull country hick.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's Just Not Good, 30 July 2007
This review is from: Ryan Adams (Paperback)
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. Not the biggest megafan nor someone with just a casual interest. It's just not good. The writing is mediocre and the content is far from insightful about anything to do with Ryan's life or career. As a big Ryan Adams fan, I did find it interesting just to get the chronology of events and a few of the names of the people involved in Adams' career, but nothing much more than technical details and a few cute photos, easily found out on various fansites or any short biography on the internet anyway.
This author has also written books about the Backstreet Boys, Bon Jovi and Cher. My guess is that he didn't write this book out of any real interest in Ryan Adams but purely because there was (and since this book hardly fills it, still is) a gap in the market for it.
