5.0 out of 5 stars A must for Dire Straits fans
The tablature in the book is very accurate and has some of their best hits. The CD is extremely helpful and includes tracks with and without guitar. Titles included are 'Going Home (theme from the Local Hero)', 'Money for Nothing', 'Private Investigations', 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Solid Rock', 'Sultans of Swing' and 'Walk of Life'. There's a tablature key at the beginning of...

2.0 out of 5 stars true review
I bought this book in order to learn The Sultans of Swing. I had been learning it from the original recording but just wanted confirmation of my accuracy. This book will not help with that. An example of this is the verse 'he doesn't want to make it cry or sing...' the guitar riff here is simply left out. The songs on the disc are not the same as the originals. If you...

There's a tablature key at the beginning of the book if you struggle reading any of the tab and there's even guides of which pickup and amp settings to use on your guitar! Great buy, enjoy :)

If you want to learn someone else's version of Dire Straits songs this is the book for you but I really don't see the point. This book may well help with putting you on the right track, chords etc for each song but so will anything off the internet. I haven't examined the book enough to see if was sanctioned by Mark Knopfler but I would be surprised if it was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top class, 10 Sept. 2001
This review is from: PLAY GUITAR WITH... DIRE STRAITS TAB BOOK/CD (Paperback)
This is a must for any guitar player wanting to learn some of Dire Straits greatist hits, the book is set up so you can learn from Tab or Standard Notation, you have the all time greatist Sultans of swing in there, and many other big hits for Dire Straits like Romeo and Juliet, money for nothing and going home, you also get a cd with the book so you can play along and get you timing down as well.

Don't get me wrong, this item is very good, and it improved my guitar skills no end.

However, Dire Straits never turned up.

I realise the Knopfler brothers may be busy, but really. Not even Pick Withers?

A shame.
