This review is from: "The Beatles" and Some Other Guys: Rock Family Trees of the Sixties: Rock Family Trees from the Sixties Beat Boom (Paperback)
This is one of Pete Frame's famous rock family trees and, as a Beatles fan, the one I am most interested in, so I am glad it is available again for a reasonable price. As well as showing the evolution of the Beatles, from the Quarrymen to the four man format the world knows, it also investigates the chronology of the Mersey Boom and shows the family trees of literally every Mersey Beat band in the early sixties - from Howie Casey and the Seniors (Howie Casey was later to play with Wings), The Big Three, Faron's Flamingos, The Remo Four, etc. Later sections deal with later Liverpool groups and rhythm and blues bands. It is wonderful to see how bands evolved, who intersected with who and which roads they went down. I love this book and Pete Frame has produced something really special in this series.

It must have taken a lot of patience and research to put these family trees together. Having read quite a few books about sixties music it still surprised me how it all sticks together.
