3.0 out of 5 stars Good illustrations
Purchased as part of Rain forest topic work. Illustrations are very good but it is neither a lovely story nor a good non fiction book as it tries to mix both.

Bought this book to use with a Year 4 class, to support the teaching of deforestation. The story is interesting, with beautiful pictures that the children loved. The language and flow of the story was confusing at times and the story was quite long to be told in one sitting. It worked best when used in chunks with some drama activities to explore the characters and situations more. I'd recommend it overall!

this is about the conflict between 'outsiders' who cut tress and the natives who live there. they resolve the conflict by building a tourist hut. the books quite wordy, and contains real-life language of anger and hate, which may sound unpleasant but portrays the natives peoples dilemma.
it starts off really well, but the ending seems rushed and abrupt.
there is some useful information about conservation at the end.
the pictures spoil it for me, they are really blurry and artsy.
