This text refers to the 2007 3rd edition/reprint - 'Traditional Teatime Recipes' from the National Trust.

160 high quality matt pages, split over main chapters:

1. Breads
2. Fruited Buns, Scones, Muffins and Splits
3. Tarts and Flans
4. Biscuits
5. Cookies

with an introduction, a section entitled: 'Successful Baking', which includes pastry making and recipes, conversion charts, American equivalents, plus an index.

Simply laid out book.
Each chapter has opening text.
Each recipe has the title, a relevant opening - often historical text, list of ingredients, quantity made/number of servings plus a clear method.

A little light on photography, with just 32 full colour plates throughout, but easy to forgive as this is good old British teatime cooking!

A special book, written gracefully by Jane Pettigrew, full of good recipes.
Loved the introducing part and the "old fashioned look" of pages.
Only question can be for a not english person like me, that the book does not include any picture about cakes, scones, biscuits, etc... so I have to imagine how they should look-like :) and search on web for a picture.

OK, so it doesn't have any photos in this edition (newer ones do have them) but the recipes are good, solid and easy to follow and produce very tasty cakes. A good addition to my large collection of cookery books. Quantities in imperial as well as metric.
