A real highlight of this publication is the Appendix: Selected Unpublished Manuscript Poems. Each poem is reproduced in facsimilie on the left hand side of the page with the modern text printing on the right hand side. From a poet's perspective it is fascinating to see what appears as, "work in progress" on the facsimilies. Elizabeth is revealed working through her ideas and there are crossings out and amendments aplenty to give clues to her lines of thought in each case. The New and Uncollected sections are also invaluable. I personally like the large, weighty paperback as it gives plenty of space for reproduction of each poem. However, this is quite a, "bulky book" which a largish number of, "white and blank spaces" either on the left hand side, opposite or below the reproduction of certain poems. As a, "voice", Elizabeth's work takes some getting used to. She is said to be the, "poet's poet". However, in this category, I would equally rate Ted Hughes. His collection, "River" must be a master work.

A lovely edition with as complete a set of her poems as are published i.e from 1933
to her death in 1979. It follows the previous 'Complete Poems (1969) and Geography 111 (1976)
plus 4 late poems left uncollected at her death. The other published poems and translations
that she omitted from her 2 final volumes are gathered in 2 parts in a final section.
Personal favourites are The Imaginary Iceberg,
Insomnia, Filling Station, Crusoe in England, Questions of Travel.
This is a fitting centenary edition.
