5.0 out of 5 stars Taoism applied to Life and Love, 28 Jun 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Nature, Man and Woman (Vintage) (Paperback)
Although clearly directed to a male audience, I as a woman found much of interest here -- in the application of a Taoist/Zen approach both to love and life in general. A deeply thought and well-articulated book, the scope of Watts' topic is wide but well-supported both logically and factually. A deeply satsifying read with profound implications.

5.0 out of 5 stars What is life anyway?, 18 Jan 2004

MR A J PRESTON (skipton, north yorkshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nature, Man and Woman (Vintage) (Paperback)
Just consider the titles of some of the chapters, the art of feeling, the world as ecstasy, the world as non sense or spirituality and sexuality. These give some idea of the profoundly important theme of the book, but as ever with alan watts there is great sincerity but never over seriousness.
A book that makes you sane.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well titled book, 13 May 2011

This review is from: Nature, Man and Woman (Vintage) (Paperback)
This is a profound book looking at the relationship between men and women from a natural point of view. It discusses how patriachal religion confuses sexual relations with its ideas of control and discusses the importance of spontaneilty for healthy inter-relationships.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watts at his most poetic!, 5 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Nature, Man and Woman (Vintage) (Paperback)
In this book watts completely 'presences' nature to his mind (thus to ours), he doesn't re-present it. This book was his proudest achievement, and rightly so. When he describes the ultimate sexual experience as a melting in to one another, and climaxes the book, he nails just that receptiveness and reciprocalness that is love in its un-grasped form.
