It may be well drown, it may even read well. but is a racist slur of the lowest possible denomination. first is not true story, second it portrays the nation who saved biggest amount of jews during wwII as pigs - the abomination to the righteous jew the most hideous animal to the jew, only in poland hiding a jew meant instant death to the person hiding him/her and to...

This review is from: Maus II: A Survivor's Tale - And Here My Troubles Began: 002 (Paperback)
I first read the Maus books (I and II) when they were published some 20 years ago. I bought them now for my young adult kids. I think it's a great way to get people of this generation to get a better understanding of the holocaust at a very personal level - especially those for whom it all seems like distant history and who are not interested in reading longer novels and non-fiction about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars racist beyond comprehension, 27 Dec 2013
This review is from: Maus II: A Survivor's Tale - And Here My Troubles Began: 002 (Paperback)
It may be well drown, it may even read well. but is a racist slur of the lowest possible denomination. first is not true story, second it portrays the nation who saved biggest amount of jews during wwII as pigs - the abomination to the righteous jew the most hideous animal to the jew, only in poland hiding a jew meant instant death to the person hiding him/her and to entire polish family of a person involved. to save one jew, it was calculated, it took 10 to 12 polish people. in poland survived alive and well more than 300 000 jews at large it means that about at least 3 000 000 poles had to be involved in helping them, just if you count the survivors. If you count all the jews and al the poles that had perished it comes to an astronomic numbers. fourth this comic book does not mention that the biggest acts of collaboration with nazis against the jews committed the jews themselves especially the ones form infamous "13" that purposefully undermined polish home army activities to hide and arm jews, this racist, laying booklet never mentions jewish police that committed unspeakable atrocities against their own. the author of this comic book has a ready place in sheol just for not treating the matter of his own kin and kith tragedy seriously and truthfully. if you want to know something about ghetto in warsaw during wwII read emmanuel ringelblum, hi hid his memoirs in milk cans concealed under the floor of his house cellar, he knew he was going to be exterminated he wrote the truth, read it cry over what you read and cry again. for what has happened was far more terrible than this little dishonest pamphlet portrays.
and if you happened to have a copy of maus have a decency to flush it page by page down the toilet
