5.0 out of 5 stars through the bees eye, 23 May 2003

(REAL NAME)
This book is a deep mine of information garnered from decades of minutely detailed and exacting experimentation. Where doubts and puzzles exist further experiments are rigorously thought out in a meticulous effort to approach the truth of the bees behaviour.
It is not the sort of book to read from cover to cover in one hop but rather to dip into on a point of interest and then to radiate and search out for further evidence in the book. That is by no means to say that the book cannot be read as a coherent whole, just that the amount of evidence available should be sifted through slowly, this is, after all, the life's work of a brilliant mind. This is a book to return to again and again especially when reading modern papers on the subject, which are sometimes put into a different perspective by what is, a classic magnum opus.
