This book covers everything you will need to get started with both PHP and PostgreSQL, including a beginner's guide to both.
The coverage is quite in depth, making this a good purchase for those interested in integrating the two technologies. On the content included, this is a 5-star book.
However, the text and example code often contain errors or contradict each other. Two examples that stick out from the introduction to PHP (chapter 3) are printf format strings with no corresponding variables, and a good description of the xor operator unfortunately accompanied by code that directly contradicts it.
This is a real shame, as this would be an excellent book if it has been more thoroughly edited. If you are confident that you can spot simple errors (and most of them are simple), this is still a good purchase.
