5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide.
This book is an excellent companion to the first two series of "Buffy". It features detailed guides to each episode, profiles and quotes of all the characters, interviews with the cast and crew, a section about all the different relationships, pieces about all the different demons and monsters, and a song list. An excellent guide, but only to the first two...

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok guide to the series
I thought this book was rather dull though very informative. It is all black and white and I thought alot of the interviews at the end were unesscsary (they might as well have interviewed the janitor.) Because of this I didn't finish the book as I found it so boring. Overall I would only reccomend to the total Buffy fan. Anyone else I would say should read one of the...

This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
This book is an excellent companion to the first two series of "Buffy". It features detailed guides to each episode, profiles and quotes of all the characters, interviews with the cast and crew, a section about all the different relationships, pieces about all the different demons and monsters, and a song list. An excellent guide, but only to the first two series. A follow-up, "The Watcher's Guide Vol 2" is coming out late this year which will deal with series three and four, I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buffy The Watchers Guide - A great place to start in Buffy, 11 Mar. 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
This was my first purchase of a Buffy book, and I'm glad I made the decision to go ahead - at ..... it represents great value for money if you are a new fan looking to become introduced to Buffy, or if you have been watching the series and want to learn more about the cast, the characters and the show itself. Included within the 300 page "handbook" are character and cast guides, an episode guide for the first two seasons, interviews with the cast and many more interesting features(including those essential cast photos!). The Watcher's Guide is well laid out, well written and a great read - it comes highly recommended so if you want to learn more about Buffy, this is the place to start!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best guide around!, 5 Aug. 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
The book has all you want from a guide. It's got character profiles, behind the scenes and mythology - all presented in a pleasant and informative way. It covers seasons one and two, (perfect for British readers), with excellent summaries and other interesting bits and pieces about each episode. It has interviews with all the regulars and some of the guest stars, the crew, including Joss Whedon, and has plenty of photos and pics, not a huge amount to distract you from the actual text. As a bonus, it includes several pages of full colour pictures. If you're looking for a guide, official or unofficial, choose this perfect companion to one of the best series around.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Beginning: Volume One, 10 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
This is an excellent introduction to the first series and the whole show by extension. It is a lot shorter than the other two volumes as it only deals with the first season but sometimes less is more. It is a useful reference if you're like me and want to watch particular episodes and can't remember the name of them. Because a whole Buffyverse has been created around the seasons, the plots etc have become quite intricate so it is useful to dip into just to clarify something that isn't clear or if you can't remember who is who. There is also some useful background on the cast. I think these books are a must-have for anyone who wishes to study more seriously.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have buy for any Buffy fan..., 27 Dec. 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
I have recently been introduced to this series and have now managed to catch up on most of the show, helped very much by the excellent 'Watchers' Guide'. I found the book very informative and particularly enjoyed the "Quotable..." sections on each character which allowed some of that brilliant dialogue to stand out.
A well thought out and informative guide to the best show on television at the moment. I can't wait for the follow up for series' 3 and 4.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Of All, 15 Jan. 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
I have quite a few Buffy The Vampire Slayer books and none of them have come quite as close to being superb as this one has. It is an excellent book, especially with it's glossy pictures and extreme detail to the programme. This book is very good if you have maybe missed a couple Buffy episodes (tut! tut!) and want to read about them, as it is very detailed and has lots of quotes from various episodes. It tells you the backround of each character in real life and in the programme and it is very useful if you want to know all about demons such as Angelous, The Master, Spike, Drusilla and many more of the demons featured in the programme. Keep in mind though it does still only go up to season 2. A must have for all Buffy fans!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the ultimate Buffy reference guide..., 24 April 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
Never has another book been SO dedicated to the show it is cataloguing. If you have ever wanted to know what goes on behind the scenes, or in the episodes themselves, this is the place to go. The tone is lively and the quotes come thick and fast. improve your knowledge of Buffy trivia, increase your enjoyment of the show, and goggle at the sheer weight of the book. The only down-point is, if you read the quotes long enough you start *talking* like the Scooby Gang. Which is no bad thing, since the writing on the show is razor sharp...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Buffy Reference, 22 July 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
This is a book for those of us who think that Buffy The Vampire Slayer is the dogs b******s. In this book you can find all the information that you'll ever need, and it's as compelling as hell. My only qualm would be that a few interviews with regards to the individual episodes would be interesting. Mind you, since it was written after the event, and people's memories are not necessarily that good, then it may be a tad difficult. But, that's just asking for too much. All in all, the ultimate Buffy The Vampire Slayer reference book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for all major buffy fans., 22 Mar. 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
If you're a real buffy fan then this is a must. Covering the whole of seasons one and two, it breaks down each episode and carefully discusses them. It also has interveiws with cast and crew, full colour pictures, and is one of the best non- fiction books i have read. The Watchers Guide Vol. 2 is also out and that covers seasons three and four. If you're an obsessive buffy fan just like me then you just have to have these two books on your shelf. 10 out of 10, five stars, 100%.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have book, 31 Aug. 2000
This review is from: Buffy: The Watcher's Guide Volume One (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series) (Paperback)
This book is fantastic, it is so detailed and has everything that a true buffy fan would ever want. The character profiles are really good and also the monster guide at the back. Although everything is fantastic. This book looks great alongside the official buffy monster book which is out now and also the watchers guide two which is not out yet but is bound to be fantastic. Any book by christopher golden is worth buying
