This is a fascinating and informative book - the recipes are great and the advice very sound (the index to locate actual recipes could be rather better). Thankfully, Elizabeth David manages to give advice in an encouraging, light-hearted and interesting way and I was very pleased to see her comment about sour dough (esentially, it's easy enough to do your own 5-day starter, but wonders whether it's actually worth the effort). A lovely book to have on the kitchen shelf

This is such a lovely book, one of Elizabeth David's greatest. It is informative, and has some classic recipes. I'm pleased to add this rare edition to my collection.
