This annotated anthology is a great book for students and is a recommended text for Staffs Uni. It has an introduction to each poem, some helpful foot notes (but not always where needed!) and has most of the major poets and their poems in. It has Tennyson's 'In Memoriam' unabridged which some anthologies butcher down to fit.
It does have flaws though. The foot notes are not necessarily on what you need to know and sometimes there are omissions of poetry or poets. There is no John Clare for example and only a few Thomas Hardy poems.
However, the book is a quality edition and nicely made with clear print and strong, thick paper... a must for highlighting passages and quotes when revising.
It is a book even non students will enjoy and will keep readers coming back as the poetry is diverse and rewarding to read.
