5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, 17 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Cities of Tomorrow: An Intellectual History of Urban Planning and Design in the Twentieth Century (Paperback)
I purchased this book to complement Garvins, The American City, the two are an unmatched first introduction the Urbanism as an intellectual concept. Being a Masters student in Urban Planning I found the book extremely helpful in plugging any historical knowledge gaps that I had, moreover it gave me a greater appreciation of the vast amount of work that lay behind some innovation I simply viewed as being incremental.
I couldn't recommend this book any higher to anyone with an enquiring mind irrespective of discipline background, I'm sure there's a lot of value in this book for practising planners today.
The only other recommendation I would make is to consider The American City: What Works, What Doesn't.
