This review is from: England Under Edward I and Edward II, 1259-1327 (History of Medieval Britain) (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book because it was a study of the social and cultural mores of the era and not about the dynastic struggles of monarchs and war. It steered clear of sensationalism, although there was plenty of violence implicit in the lives of the various characters mentioned. I enjoyed learning about the nuts and bolts of the system and the corruptions of the Norman French into usalble English for the common people - pied poudre to pie powder to desribe (or not as in the case of the translation) for vagrant.
