This review is from: Blackwell Handbook of Childhood Cognitive Development (Blackwell Handbooks of Developmental Psychology) (Paperback)
I was stunned to find this book for what was basically pennies! It's massive, a total monster of a textbook that weighs very little and is full of useful information. Something I will truly need during my future career as an educational psychologist - and now, as a student of Psychology.

The book consists of five parts; infancy, in which they talk about imitation, understanding of self, physical knowledge, categorisation, word learning, memory development. Second part is early childhood; animate-inanimate, theory of mind, pretend play and symbolic artifacts. Third part is childhood; memory, causal reasoning, deductive reasoning, morality, spatial understanding, physics, scientific thinking, reading and dyslexia, mathematics. Fourth part is atypicality. Final part is different models; Piaget, Vygotsky, information-processing models, computational constraints and individual differences.

This book is not a textbook as such, it's more a collection of works by different authors pulled together into one great resource.
