This review is from: The Age of the Dictators: A Study of the European Dictatorships, 1918-53 (Paperback)
This is a must-have book for any student of 20th Century History or indeed anyone who simply has an interest. The layout makes it very easy to read and any terms used and key people are explained to in margin notes or separate 'box' sections. There's a good selection of photos and case studies at the end of each chapter. Each chapter starts with a timeline which helps to place the events you are reading about. At the end of the book there's a useful glossary and a huge further reading list. I have found this book totally absorbing and informative, as well as being useful for my research. My son has now purloined it for part of his GCSE History work. I think it works for all levels of reader and highly recommend it.
