5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant read
Could not put this book down, what a very courageous woman, many would have given up after they found out what had happened to their loved one but I think she went on from strength to strength, first time I have cried whilst reading a book.

3.0 out of 5 stars the story does get a bit draw out but that tells us how tedious her captivity was
A very interesting story & one can only admire Judith, what a frightening experience. the story does get a bit draw out but that tells us how tedious her captivity was. I was surprised she wasn't given more medical care after retuning to England. (unless that was not mentioned in detail) I enjoyed this story simply because it is true & what the human Spirit can endure...

5.0 out of 5 stars Judith Tebbut's ordeal, 5 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was a remarkable account of Judith's survival, being held in captivity by Somalian pirates. Her story was well written and gripped me from the start. A truly remarkable tale from a lovely lady who lost a great husband on a "trip of a lifetime" and who survived through her grit and determination, and the love of her family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling Read, 9 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the story of how this very ordinary woman had the courage to face this ordeal and survive. It is a very human account of a terrible situation. Judith Tebbett really is a heroine and this is one of the best books I have read in a very long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars ADMIRATION, 9 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have nothing bu admiration for this woman. She tells the story so well you can feel her pain and isolation. This book is well written and an absorbing read, you know she will be released eventually but you want to keep reading to hurry up her release and reunite her with her beloved Ollie. If Ollie wants to write a book from his perspective he has a guaranteed reader here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book review, 4 Nov. 2013

The writer is a heroine who shows integrity and courage under horrific conditions and triumphs in the end even though she was widowed during the kidnapping. She also shows how not to ignore those niggling feelings that all was not well which MIGHT have prevented the outrage.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true and moving story, 2 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
From the first chapter i found this a marvellous book. I had stayed at Kiyawu which made it that much more real. But although a terribly sad story it is equally incredibly uplifting reading of Judiths strength and love of her son to beat these pirates.
absolutely worth the time to read this.

She wrote really well, and the descriptions of the places of her captivity and kidnappers were excellent. Once she was home it was quite moving.

Wow what a very brave lady, how she kept so positive through her ordeal especially after learning her husband had been killed,
very strong lady who should be very proud of herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Remarkable Account, 17 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Judith Tebbutt was kidnapped in September 2011 by Somali pirates whilst she was enjoying a Kenyan holiday with her husband. In this book she gives a remarkable account of her ordeal. With an impressive eye for detail you can feel her frustration as she is kept in the dark regarding negotiations to secure her release. She provides an insight based on her own experience as a social worker in a medium-secure psychiatric hospital and recounts her attempts to establish some sort of rapport with her captors. You can't help but be in awe of her ability to maintain her resilience and her story is truly inspirational.
