5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky Thoughts Provoked, 20 May 2010
This review is from: The New Sins (Hardcover)
I love this book. Its odd. An inverted perspective on life, the good, the bad, the ugly. I actually bought this for a baby...a non religious naming ceremony in place of a bible and then chickened out giving it to her since it was a bit too weird. I kind of regret that now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as exciting as he wished, 2 Feb. 2002

This review is from: The New Sins (Hardcover)
Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent book, but it starts on certain assumptions, and it clearly tells us nothing new.
These are old concepts dressed up and hoping for new fame.
But a critic is an evil thing, and so from the opening criticism I shall suggest more.
This book covers a wide range of basic facts, it states its opinions from the offset, and its designed in a new way, it makes itself exciting, even if the content were dull. And its not.
If you're seeking something paradoxical, but at the same time basically easy to unparadox, then this is the book for you. it makes itself mystical by telling you facts that it obviously understands well, and that with no effort, you too could understand. Its well written but most importantly, well illustrated.
This is not a book of words. its a book of pictures, the words merely cause you to stay and view those pictures, and for THAT I applaud it. Each picture sinks into you as you read the writing, and you can grasp the words better and in the sense they're meant because of that.
this then, is a very grand book, and it seeks to be yet grander... Without hope of better, we'll wait and see.
