5.0 out of 5 stars Short story perfection
If a book is worth buying it's worth re-reading. So I am almost ashamed to say that I have read almost all Homeland's stories one after the other. All of them are perfect. But I cannot properly review this book until I have read each one in isolation and given each proper thought. For the moment that is a reading pleasure to look forward to - with a further proper...

3.0 out of 5 stars Stories of Families'struggles
This book has many stories involving everyday people with everyday problems. Many people in those stories either have love for nature,or have a difficult time with their families. I liked it to a certain point because it seemed like the stories were all the same and had all the same point.

Beautifully written. You realy feel like you know these people. The short story format makes it easy for lunchtime reading. She literally paints pictures with her writing.

Once again Barbara Kingslover has produced great stories at times heartbreaking but combined with humour. I don't ususally enjoy short stories but this book is not to be missed.

Like all of Barbara Kingsolver's books. Very good understanding of ordinary but interesting people and their lives. Later books her best.

Well, I would not have bought it if I had twigged it was short stories. Having said this the writing is good and they are good short stories, but I prefer Barbara Kingsolvers novels.

4.0 out of 5 stars The storys is about the family and love., 1 Jun 1999
By A Customer
I think this is a pretty good book to the people age about 30 years old or older. But not for the high school student yet. Because they can't feel when they said for the family was very importance to them. I think when they get older they may can feeling it. And the marriage women may like it, because the storys character they are mostly is marriage women, a lot the time it sounds like the story is talking about them.
