5.0 out of 5 stars A compendium of information no weaver should be without, 25 Jun. 2001
This review is from: The Techniques of Rug Weaving (Paperback)
Techniques is a book I thought wouldn't exist. I searched in vain for books on rug weaving with decent technical content, then I found this, and although it is not for the hobbyist or amateur, I suggest you buy it - once the terminology sinks in, nothing is clearer, though the twill with 8 shafts is not easy.
The section on knotted rugs is very useful, and has helped enormously. Also, rug finishing is dealt with very comprehensively, and includes many types of folk or ethnic finishing techniques.
The only omission - a weaver's knot. Peter shows a double one, but not the single knot. And a glossary would have been nice... but then, it is supposed to be a book for the experienced weaver.
Very definitely 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars still the best book for rug weavers, 29 Jun. 2013
This review is from: The Techniques of Rug Weaving (Paperback)
A classic book that will never go out-of-date. Invaluable for experienced weavers, novices, and anyone who wants to understand rugs and rug-making. It's a keeper - not selling mine!
