Throughout the work there is a powerful juxtaposition between the often detailed scientific content and a tangible sense of lonliness or loss. Certain poems have a strangely abstract and timeless quality as geography and period remain unclear. There is often only the sense of being held somewhere where time moves slowly, the pace of life set by the grinding wheels of the dawning of science in an age of discovery. A welcome escape from the pulsing, ever-changing digital revoltion that drives contemporary lifestyle.
