You do need to have some theology training to understand the words in the book. The theory behind it is clear and makes loads of sense to me. Just wish he could have written this also for non-theologians and I could then recommend it to Christian friends wishing to think more deeply about their faith and modern day issues. I enjoyed how he linked modern day and Christ's day and scripture and found it helpful. You would need a theological dictionary if you were new to this kind of study though - I guess he wrote it for theologians of various levels, rather than for the general public.

This is a fantastic book which takes you from balanced summaries of the ethical stances of various NT authors right through to the vexed issue of how to apply them to issues of war, sexuality, assisted dying. The big disappointment is the quality of Amazon's reprint which is truly awful and makes an excellent text hard to read - faint and blotchy.

Easy to read, informative and stretching. Includes issues such as how leaders can balance discipline with love. I wish I'd read this years ago.
