I really did not enjoy this sequel to Scruples to be honest, I think Mrs Kranz did herself a disservice by all but trashing Billy Ikehorn Orsini's character by making her weak and vulnerable. Vulnerable to a point but NEVER weak!
One of Billy's attributes is that she is a very strong character who knows her own mind, deciding what she wants and goes out to get it. True the circumstances surrounding the opening of the book would have had Billy in a tailspin initially, her strength would have pulled her through, sure everyone has a blip but we all get over it. Billy never seemed to recover which is a shame.
Introducing Gigi, Vito's daughter to the scene was really a red herring and not worthy of Mrs Kranz's effort. To my mind this was just a way to milk the first book but really failed in my eyes. Then to go through some many scenarios one after the other, after the other, after the other left me breathless. It was all just too much.
However I have just ordered Lovers, book 3 in the trilogy which I will read just to complete it but I am not holding my breath. I didn't even know about the book and it was only when I was looking for something else that I happened to notice that it was the conclusion to Scruples/Scruples 2.
At 86 years old Mrs Kranz is still very much alive, thank you my dear for all your other books which are much more worthy of praise than this one.

Think how a Harry Potter fan would feel, if, in the last episode, Harry was revealed to have been in cahoots with Valdemort all along. It just doesn't work, does it? Same here. Not content with destroying her most attractive and engaging character, along with the store, Kranz proceeds to contradict at least two fundamental statements made in the original book, in which the reader must believe, if the story is to have a satisfying conclusion. If she had to have a sequel, it could have been done without resorting to such literary butchery. The original "Scruples" isn't great literature, but it deserves better than this.

I purchased four books from the Amazon-Market seller, and was charged an extraordinary postage for each book...... I even recieved two in the same package???????
I had searched high and low for these books, and had to head overseas for copies, after the shock of the postage costs, I really enjoyed turning back the clock and re-reading these 70's/80's classic reads whilst on a beach holiday. Highly recommended and Great fun, for light reading whilst on the beach, the other books where Lace 1 & 2 and of course, the original 'Scruples... Still love my Jackie Collins novels for holidays though.
