This is my favourite of all the meditation audio I've heard. The production of the accompanying book is very good and on the cd Jack's voice is welcoming, friendly and conducive to helping you feel unthreatened and relaxed.

The occasional low sounds from other class members do not distract but actually give you the impression you are in a real meditation class...

USELESS - please do not waste your money on this book and cd - there are so many out there that are good and deliver - this does not - to say that I was disappointed is an understatement - the cd in particular is just undescribably bad - save your money.

This is my favourite of all the meditation audio I've heard. The production of the accompanying book is very good and on the cd Jack's voice is welcoming, friendly and conducive to helping you feel unthreatened and relaxed.

The occasional low sounds from other class members do not distract but actually give you the impression you are in a real meditation class. In particular - as a beginner I like the fact that these meditations are quite short - they don't overwhelm you or make you feel like a failure if you can't complete one - because you *can* easily complete one.

I found it an excellent beginners tool and will definitely use more of Jack Kornfields meditation aids.

I had been doing Shamatha meditation for about 9 months and wanted to learn a little about Vipassana meditation. I bought a number of books and also the expensive "Insight Meditation Kit" by Sharon Salzberg & Joseph Goldstein. But I have to say this book & CD by Jack Kornfield is the very best of them all for me. It is simple, straight-forward and gets you doing Insight meditation quickly. The Insight Kit I mentioned above I found confusing and complicated and, at times, contradictory. It would ask you not to hurl a lot of questions at what you were experiencing. Then in the next sentence it would say things like "How does this experience make you feel? What colour is it? Does it get smaller or bigger as you stay with it?" etc etc But this excellent little book and CD combo is cheaper and in my opinion better, especially if you are, like me, a beginer. I didn't like the CD in the Insight Kit and didn't use it at all after my first attempts. But Jack Kornfield's CD here is very user friendly and together with the book will have you practising Insight Meditation in no time at all. Highly recommended.

The book pretty much explains in simplistic terms what the accompanying CD delivers. At first i had to get use to the man's voice as its not that masculine, but once i over came that and got use to it, (because voices are important to guided meditation personally i cannot stand Paul Mckenna) I found this to be one of the best books/Cd's on meditation, its simple and it delivers, even if you just listen to the CD. I use it before i go to bed, i haven't listened to tracks 5 and 6, but i find 1-4 very useful in the art of quieting the mind which really does help with pain, emotions, obsessive thoughts (which usually occur before going a bed, you know when you want to sleep and your mind decides to switch itself on!). In conclusion, its simplistic, ideal to fit into your schedule as the meditations stem anywhere from 8 to 14 minutes all of which seem to fly by, but deliver because they leave you feeling very relaxed with a calm state of mind. I recommend journalling and to do lists for the next day before you go to bed too as a way to help empty the mind.

For a beginner like me, this was great. Easy to follow and short 10 minute meditations that fit well with my busy life!

I bought this a while ago and have just started using it again, for myself this is a great way to learn meditation as it starts from the very begining ie breating teqniques. I would definatley recomend this as it is a perfect way to start learning.

This is a clear concise book! It has good insight without being overwhelming! It is to the point and has easy to manage chapters to allow you to work through the book and the meditations a step at a time! The recordings are not glossy with music and sound effects they are from live meditation sessions and so are real and authentic! I have been meditating for years and thoroughly enjoyed this book and the recordings!

Without unearthly promises, this book gives insight into what meditation is, and what it can do for us. It explains basic techniques and it is easy to read and understand. The author seems honest and humble.

This book was exactly what I was looking for. A simple and clear approach to Transcendental meditation. I have only just began the process but already have found that it has massively releived my stresses. The book also comes with a CD taking you through meditations step by step.

Well done Jack Kornfield (Brilliant work!).

Jack Kornfield is perhaps the most gifted meditation teacher in the West. His humor, compassion, clarity and insight make this tape series a life-long treasure. Perfect for anyone who is new to meditation or who wantsmore peace and compassion to stream from the heart.
