3.0 out of 5 stars Should have stopped at six
The Galaxy of Fear series has been one of the biggest surprises for me. I assumed the reason I'd never heard about these books was because they were hideously unpopular. The Galaxy of Fear series has been one of the biggest surprises for me. I assumed the reason I'd never heard about these books was because they were hideously unpopular. Sure, being a young reader's book they are very cartoon-like but they are also very well written, the stories have been captivating and they have a certain charm about them.

This seventh book marked the beginning of a new story arc. However, once I got a few pages in I was thinking "you really should have stopped at six books". The plot is just a little too far fetched and completely over the top in my opinion. Even the excellent writing style of John Whitman and the light-hearted, almost parody-like, style of the book couldn't quite make up for the silliness of this particular story.

Of course, there is the token cameo by well known characters and there is the usual moral at the end of the book and it was easy and enjoyable to read but it wasn't a shade on the first six.
