This is a step-by-step book and very thorough reading.
I have read other books regarding housebreaking and this is by far the best I've read. What I love most is that she describes different scenerios for the stay-at-home and working dog owners. I started seeing results after the third day! Truly an exellent book for anyone who has a puppy or an older dog having accidents in the home.

I think NOT!
I've never had a dog before so I bought the book actually thinking that I could housebreak my puppy in 7 days. Well, in my case, that was far from true. Even though you follow the schedule that the book suggests, "accidents" still happen as soon as you turn your head away from the dog, and it is impossible to look after your dog 24/7. The importance stressed on...

Taking the Heartbreak out of Housebreaking!, 24 Jan 1999
By A Customer
This book offers concise, yet thorough instruction and information on the best method to housebreak your pooch. Kalstone even includes information on paper-training, though she makes it clear that this is not the best method, and should not be considered as an intermediate step if one expects a dog to use the bathroom exclusively outside at any point in its life. The thing I like most about the little book, aside from the completely reasonable price (truly one of the best deals for your dollar in the world of dog-training books), is that she includes several sample feeding/exercise/elimination schedules that a person can tailor to one's own schedule. She also strongly advises and gives solid training information about crate-training, which when done properly, is one of the most humane and best gifts a human could possibly bestow upon a canine companion. If you're having a problem with "accidents" in the house, *this* is the book you've been looking for! And what a bargain! :)

This book is guaranteed to work!, 29 Jun 1999
By A Customer
As a dog enthusiast and potential breeder I have recommended this book to more people than I can count. If you follow the methods presented here you will succeed with any dog, no matter how old. The only dog that will not be trained is the dog who is physically incapable of being trained.

This Book Is Fantastic!, 4 May 1999
By A Customer
This book describes why most known methods of housebreaking are ineffective and unnecessary. It describes the psychology behind the method. I trained my dog by this method and must say it worked almost too well. My dog is now 8 years old and has had an "accident" in the house only once in that time due to an illness. I attribute this success to the method discussed in this book as well as to the intelligence of my dog :) . I will say that the first two days are difficult, but after that the dog will understand the 'pen". Try it, it is far less cruel than other methods.

It worked on a Basset!, 14 May 1999
By A Customer
I followed the instructions in this book and housebroke a notoriously hard-to-housebreak Basset hound in ... well, okay, it took 10 days. I lent my copy out to another new-puppy owner and it was never returned, so now I'm ordering another copy to refresh my memory for the next puppy in my life.

It REALLY works!, 24 April 2005
We bought this book in preparation of the arrival of our Labrador puppy. Sticking closely to the rules our puppy was housebroken in less than seven days. It's true - it really does work! If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed it. Anyone who has a puppy should buy this book.

How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days, 27 May 2006
Our little tear away "Sophie" is fourteen months old, and because she is so beautiful gets away with almost anything! But it was getting to be a ritual every morning, cleaning up after her. It was then that we decided to GET HELP!!!!!!!!
So we took the advice of the book (slightly modified)it to suit our babies needs! We were very suprised to see how quickly Sophie took to this and now she is not a little tear away anymore but a little ANGEL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks to all.

Pretty good if you know NOTHING!, 15 May 2009
I got my puppy when he was 8 weeks old..the info doesnt really start until 12 weeks.....however I applied the rules(most of which are common sense) and now he is 11 weeks hes pretty good/reliable. The stuff about cage/crate training was very good, the puppy cried for 20 mins on his first night here, 10 the second, five the third and hasnt cried since, he goes into it at night without being asked, lies down quietly and goes straight to sleep. never having used one before, I definitely will again..it has made the nights peaceful and dry!
