5.0 out of 5 stars incredible - ranging from ghandi to the sXe movement, 10 Jan. 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Vegetables Rock!: A Complete Guide for Teenage Vegetarians (Paperback)
This book is incredible. It is a complete, concise reference for teenage vegetarians, and would definitely be of as much interest for and use to adult vegetarians as well. The thouroughness with which Pierson delves into the subject is impressive, and she writes it all in such a stylish and humorous way. It's really charming how her fifteen year old daughter, Phoebe, wrote parts of the book - it gives such a balanced perspective. The recipe section at the end is amazing, with recipes from such famous places as Angelica Kitchen in NYC and Mrs. Green's, a rising dynasty of health-food stores in upstate New York. Of all the books on vegetarianism I've come across, teenage or not, this is the most concise, charming, modern one yet. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

This review is from: Vegetables Rock!: A Complete Guide for Teenage Vegetarians (Paperback)
'Vegetables Rock! : A Complete Guide for Teenage Vegetarians' is an insightful book. I'm sixteen years old, and I decided to become a lacto-ovo vegetarian just a few days ago. This book is the first information source I've come across. It answered all my questions about vegetarianism with a clever, humorous approach. It helped me appreciate my economical decision. And the cover of the book is adorable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative solution to a carnivore-parent's dilemma, 19 April 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Vegetables Rock!: A Complete Guide for Teenage Vegetarians (Paperback)
Where have you been, Ms Pierson! After struggling to find reasonable, rationale and somewhat-creative meals to feed my vegetarian/vegan teenager, this new book is a welcome gift to other omnivore parents. It is a straightforward presentation of meals without having to seek out esoteric ingredients and resort to spending your entire meal shopping effort in remote health food markets.

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome book for all vegetarians, 3 May 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Vegetables Rock!: A Complete Guide for Teenage Vegetarians (Paperback)
This book is a great starter for everyone and especially for new vegetarians. It gives complete advice for becoming vegetarian and nutrition info. The recipes are really cool, especially for those who are afraid of the bizarre food sometimes recommended for those who are avioding meat.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike!, 16 Feb. 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Vegetables Rock!: A Complete Guide for Teenage Vegetarians (Paperback)
With informative data and clever humor, this book brings a fresh perspective on vegetarianism to the table by addressing issues important to both teens and adults. You won't find whiny preaching about the perils of carniverous eating. Instead, Pierson's exhaustive research has yielded important health suggestions, survival tips and mouth-watering recipes from nationally renowned restaurants. As a twentysomething on-again, off-again vegetarian, this book has become a staple both in my bookshelf and my kitchen. It's a one-of-a-kind manual, written for anyone who's ever known, been or seen a teenage vegetarian. It's a must-have!!!

This one is a really, really funny book. I am vegetarian but my husband is not. Still, we both had really pleasant times reading this book, and of course trying out the recipes in there!!!
