5.0 out of 5 stars Best book ever! Thanks Winston!, 27 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This book must be the best, saddest and funniest book ever! So many thing happen in it. He gets involved with american football, single handedly causes the berlin wall to fall, captures saddam hussain and blows up a toen with pig manure! Please buy this for it must be one of the greatest books ever written!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant follow on!, 7 Jun 2011

Margaret Taylor "Books at Al's" (Leicestershire, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Gump & Co. (Paperback)
I haven't read the first book (Forrest Gump), only seen the film (which I thought was excellent), so I was a little confused at the beginning of the book with the differences. However I soon figured it out and went on to thoroughly enjoy the book. The story is a continuation of the chaos that seems to follow Forrest around and again tied in with real events, I do love the way that the character deals with the events in such an offhand manner as if to say he doesn't expect anything else! Brilliant book, an absolute 'must read' if you've ever seen the film or read the first book.

4.0 out of 5 stars So scared this would be rubbish..., 7 Dec 2013

but it wasn't.
I loved the first book and was worried that this one may be a token istic pension for Mr Groom. For the first few chapters I was worried that I was right. The adventures seemed implausible even for Forrest, and I know the first book was implausible too but this time they seemed engineered by the author and a little contrived. As soon as the plot stalled, wheel out another old character and amble through another chapter, that seemed to be the way things happen in this book.
Luckily it changed, the story became less about adventure and more about emotion. Forrest becomes an everyman again and the story is all the better for it.
Funny, thought provoking, sad and upsetting but ultimately, enjoyable and emotional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book, 30 April 2014

If you think you know Forrest from the movie, think again. This is the sequel from the original Forrest Gump book and it beautifully ties up all the loose ends. There is some very clever and "cute" writing, (no spoilers here, so I'll not give it away).
