Format: Audio CDVine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
His voice is perfect for the audio version of "At Home" and has been my companion for over 14 hours of car journeys to complete the boxed set.
Never short of one interesting fact after another which you will want to relate to someone else as soon as possible.
I am now on the second run through the collection as inevitably when driving your concentration is mostly on the road and new facts initially missed are collected the second time around.
Very enjoyable and an ideal gift.

I totally agree, Bill Bryson is back on form. This is a very easy and enjoyable read. The history, however is to be taken with a pinch of proverbial salt. He has over simplified and taken liberties with his facts. This book is more a movie than a documentary; its purpose can only be to entertain, not inform. For most people, this is probably a perfect combination. For some, it may prove too irritating to be tolerable.

I am reading this book to and from work on the train and must say it is the best book i have read in an age. I am however getting loads of sideways glances when i repeatedly say "well i never" to the numerous amazing facts and stories BB is putting in this book which i am now telling people as if they were my own findings!
He would surely make a great guest on QI.
