5.0 out of 5 stars Full Coverage. Straight to the Point. Clear, 23 Dec 2008
This review is from: Introduction to Information Retrieval (Hardcover)
This book is the ABC of IR systems. I'm studying it for a MSc in Computer Science and I'm referring to it daily to write my MSc project. The book is an invaluable source for anyone wanting to understand what IR is about and, why not?, if you are thinking of writing your own IR system. I especially like the probability part which is clear, straight to the point and get you up and running in no-time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great introduction to IR, 14 Feb 2011
This review is from: Introduction to Information Retrieval (Hardcover)
A great introduction to IR, it accurately explains everything you need to know to be able to start building an IR system.
It starts from classic-IR problems (indexing, query-processing, language processing, document classification etc) and gets to web-IR related problems and techniques(crawling, spamming, etc).
I definitely recommend it to all those who are attending IR-related classes or taking exams about this topic.
