5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for definitions, concepts, ideas and excercises.
This is the "Cookbook" for anybody interested in calculus. Definetely it is one of the best books in my collection and a source of inspiration.

I particularly do calculations in C and C++ and I found it very helpful. Many problems have been resolved alredy and it shows you how to deal with nearly everything in calculation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Like buying a maths book and being told you can't use the Equations.
The following is not a review of the quality of the algorithms (which I have gathered are of high quality) or the architecture of the C++ code. Rather this is a review of the licence that accompanies this particular purchase of the source.

The following is not a review of the quality of the algorithms (which I have gathered are of high quality) or the architecture of the C++ code. Rather this is a review of the licence that accompanies this particular purchase of the source.

License information for this product can be found on the NR web site.

This product comes with a Single-User License, which allows you to use your code in the work place, as long as you're the only one using it. So, in reality, you can't use this code in your workplace if you happen to be using (as is always the case these days) a central code repository. Also, would management really want you writing code that noone else can touch? No, the only sensible option is to purchase the Institutional subscription ( see NR web site ).

This product, with this license, is therefore of no use to me at all. I mentioned this during email correspondence with the authors and asked who this product was intended for. I was told (politely) that NR has thousands of satisfied users. What I was not told was how many of those users possess the licence that accompanies this particular product. I believe that this product should not be sold as a separate item to the book, rather as a free accompaniment to it (along with the restrictions). If usage of the codes is then required an institutional subscription should then be purchased.

This is one of this books who literally has a huge influence in my life and my way of thinking and see the world. I would say even better than a university degree if you know how to learn from it. Top Class no doubt.
