Paul Slack was recommended to me by my Social Historian lecturer. The need for informative text regarding the Old English Poor Laws derived from an assessment I had to carry out on the subject. A relatively short book, which can provide the reader with a foundation for further expansive reading. Well written, easy to convey and understand; and very much to the point. If you seek information regarding the Old Poor Laws without 'beating around the bush' then this is the book you want to read.

A smaller work than I expected, but to the point.
